  1. Could you share what has your path been to reach to the top? What did help you and what challenges did you find?

R: PT

Throughout my career, I was very lucky to be a part of companies which drove me further, with leaders who encouraged my development, and talented teams which helped me a lot. It’s important to know that you can succeed in your life choices, whatever the meaning of «top». That is very particular for each of us. In my case, my professional growth has had a diverse support network and working at companies that have clear values and policies that enable a balanced personal and professional choices has helped a great deal.

The biggest challenge is avoid trying to be «wonder woman» all the time. This is a trap we must avoid. Learning to ask for help and to drive collaborative behaviors inside and outside the company make the challenges feel lighter. It’s very common to hear about equality of opportunity. However, promoting this commitment and helping to increase awareness of this topic, as a leader, makes it more feasible on a daily basis.

   2. Why is it relevant to advance gender equality in the business world?

R: PT

R: ENG

For every possible reason. It’s a path that with no turning back. It’s a proven fact that corporate productivity increases when women occupy leadership positions and councils. When speaking of diversity in general, this is no longer a perception, but a proven fact. Diversity generates innovation that generates business sustainability. More and more, this tripod discussed by companies and we must ensure that it’s being put into practice as well.

   3. What needs to be done to advance equality in the business sector? What do we need to take a quantum leap?

R: PT

R: ENG

There is still much to be done, starting by increasing information and the fact that diversity does bring results, and by encouraging women to support other women in their professional choices. Leaders need to promote these examples in a tangible way, working on communication and internal policies that call on men and women to take part in this increasingly frequent and necessary conversation, including the elimination of cultural stereotypes and prejudices. Despite the increase of women in the labor market in the past decade, equal pay could take up to 80 years to happen, according to the UN Global Gender Equity Report presented at the World Economic Forum. We need to join forces to anticipate this reality and to close this gap.
